Abstract

Dit bijzondere boek over allerlei natuurkundige onderwerpen is op eigenaardige manier ontstaan. De natuurkundige Peter Langendam werd gevraagd om een aantal verhandelingen te schrijven over onderwerpen van technische aard op een dusdanig eenvoudige wijze, dat een ieder die de middelbare school had doorlopen het kon begrijpen. En dat heeft de auteur gedaan. Zijn verhandelingen waren bedoeld voor de leden van de Nederlandse Club van de Costa del Sol en werden gepubliceerd in hun clubblad, De Vliegende Hollander. Het ging over warmtepompen, speciale machines die men in ziekenhuizen gebruikt om ziekten op te sporen, over kerncentrales in het algemeen en de centrales van Spanje in het bijzonder, over thoriumcentrales en waarom het kernafval geen rol meer speelt, over chips (geïntegreerde schakelingen), over bijzondere fysici, over de opwarming van de aarde en de zogenaamde energiecrisis, over het vergaan van onze planeet en de hoop op een schoner milieu en een mooie toekomst. Over de schrijver: Peter Langendam is een natuurkundige die zich op allerlei gebieden van de techniek heeft bewogen, vele belangrijke functies heeft bekleed en die zich zelfs op politiek gebied heeft laten gelden. Hij heeft meer dan 20 boeken gepubliceerd, ook onder pseudoniem, vele schilderijen gemaakt en heeft zelfs bronzen beelden gecreëerd, die bij gerenommeerde galerieën in binnen en buitenland te koop worden aangeboden. Hij is een kookfanaat en altijd op zoek naar het perfecte gerecht. De jaren na zijn pensionering worden voornamelijk gewijd aan de kunsten en wordt de wetenschap minder belicht, hoewel de natuurkunde toch altijd zijn lievelingskindje blijft en hij op eenvoudige wijze de wonderen van dat vak over het voetlicht weet te brengen.

Abstract

Abstract

This book addresses the comprehensive understanding of Ni-rich layered oxide of lithium-ion batteries cathodes materials, especially focusing on the effect of dopant on the intrinsic and extrinsic effect to its host materials. This book can be divided into three parts, that is, 1. overall understanding of layered oxide system, 2. intrinsic effect of dopant on layered oxides, and 3. extrinsic effect of dopant on layered oxides. To truly understand and discover the fundamental solution (e.g. doping) to improve the Ni-rich layered oxides cathodic performance, understanding the foundation of layered oxide degradation mechanism is the key, thus, the first chapter focuses on discovering the true degradation mechanisms of layered oxides systems. Then, the second and third chapter deals with the effect of dopant on alleviating the fundamental degradation mechanism of Ni-rich layered oxides, which we believe is the first insight ever been provided. The content described in this book will provide research insight to develop high-performance Ni-rich layered oxide cathode materials and serve as a guide for those who study energy storage systems.
